What spices go well with rice, potatoes, and chicken? Paprika – adds a beautiful color and mild sweetness. Parsley – gives a unique aroma. Garlic – enhances the flavor. Oregano – brings a Mediterranean touch. Turmeric – makes the dish vibrant and appetizing.

Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients. For this recipe, I used small chicken legs, but chicken breast or turkey meat can also be used. If using frozen chicken, thaw it beforehand.

Rinse and pat dry the chicken. Cut it into evenly sized portions.

Peel the onion and carrots. Cut bell peppers in half and remove the seeds. To make the dish more colorful, I used peppers of different colors. Rinse and dry the vegetables with a paper towel. Dice the onions and peppers, and cut the carrots into sticks. You can cut the vegetables in any way you prefer, but avoid chopping them too small, as they might become mushy while cooking.

Heat a little vegetable oil in a pan. Add the chicken pieces, season with salt and pepper to taste, and fry on both sides until golden brown.

Transfer the chicken to a separate plate. In the same pan, add the chopped vegetables. If needed, add a little more oil. Sauté for a few seconds while stirring. The vegetables should not become too soft.

Rinse the rice several times until the water runs clear, then add it to the vegetables.

Stir continuously and cook for 1-2 minutes over slightly reduced heat.

Peel the potatoes, wash, dry, and cut them into medium-sized cubes. Place them in a deep baking dish.

Add the cooked chicken to the dish.

Next, layer the rice and vegetables. Season with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices. I used 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika (which gave the dish a nice color) and garlic powder (which added a rich and slightly spicy taste).

Mix everything gently and thoroughly.

Pour in water and cover the baking dish with foil. Place it in a preheated oven and bake at 180-220°C for 35-40 minutes. Note that the temperature and cooking time may vary. Ten minutes before the end of cooking, remove the foil so the chicken and rice get a nice golden crust.
