Oatmeal with Water and Milk

Preparation
Step 1
You can slightly change the water-to-milk ratio. Use milk of any fat content. Adjust sugar to taste. If you plan to add sweet fruits or berries, you can skip sugar. You can use either large or small oats—small ones cook faster and make a smoother texture.
Step 2
Rinse the oats and place them in a small saucepan. Add water and bring to a boil. Simmer on low for 5–7 minutes to start swelling the oats. For a richer porridge, you can use only milk instead of water, but it’s better to cook the oats first in a bit of water.
Step 3
Pour in the milk. Stir and bring to a boil again.
Step 4
Add sugar and a pinch of salt to taste. Simmer for another 3–4 minutes.
Step 5
The porridge will thicken. Cover with a lid, remove from heat, and let it steam for a few minutes—it will thicken further.
Step 6
Rinse raisins in hot water. Peel and slice the banana. To prevent browning, you can sprinkle it with lemon juice.
Step 7
Serve the porridge in bowls. Add the prepared banana and raisins. You can also use other dried fruits, apples, pears, or berries. Enjoy!
