Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients. Use either store-bought or homemade shortbread cookies. You can substitute cocoa powder with carob. Let the butter come to room temperature in advance. You may omit the walnuts or replace them with softer nuts.
Step 2
Break the cookies into small pieces by hand. Then grind them into fine crumbs using a food processor or meat grinder. Pre-breaking the cookies speeds up the process.

Step 3
Lightly toast the walnuts in a dry skillet. Crush them with a food processor or mortar and pestle into small crumbs. Add the crushed walnuts and softened butter to the cookie crumbs.
Step 4
Using a spoon or your hands, combine the cookie crumbs, crushed nuts, and butter into a uniform mixture.
Step 5
Gently pour in the condensed milk and mix thoroughly until smooth.

Step 6
You should end up with a soft, slightly crumbly but moldable dough that holds its shape well.
Step 7
Shape small oval “potatoes” (about 2.5 oz / 70 g each) by pressing the mixture firmly with your hands.
Step 8
Carefully roll each dessert in cocoa powder, place them on a large flat plate, and chill slightly. Serve in muffin paper cups for a nice presentation. Enjoy with tea!
