Fish Salad with Mayonnaise

This salad is the main centerpiece of the festive table! Made with simple ingredients, but the preparation transforms the flavor. No one will guess how it’s made—everyone will ask for the recipe. Try it and surprise your guests!
You can use canned or lightly salted fish, such as mackerel, herring, or tuna. Vegetables are usually boiled whole, peeled after cooling, and then grated or diced.

Step 1
Boil the vegetables until fully cooked. This typically includes potatoes, carrots, and beets. Let them cool.

Cut the fish into pieces and pour over it the brine from pickled cucumbers. Once it comes to a boil, simmer for 20 minutes over low heat. Let the fish cool in the brine.

Separate the fish by removing bones and cutting it into small pieces. Chop the vegetables as well.
Step 4
Layer the ingredients in this order, spreading mayonnaise between each layer: fish, potatoes (add a pinch of salt here), carrots, pickled cucumbers, beets.
Step 5
Let the salad sit for 2 hours to allow the flavors to blend, then serve.
