Baked Apples and Pears in the Oven

A beloved autumn dessert in a new twist! Baked apples and pears with orange bring out a bright, fragrant flavor. Delicious served warm or chilled.

Step 1
Choose aromatic medium-sized apples and pears, and a large orange (or two small ones). You can use honey or substitute it with regular or brown sugar. Any nuts will work – walnuts were used in this version. You may also use ground cinnamon. Prepare a baking dish and preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
Step 2
Wash the fruit thoroughly with baking soda to remove the wax coating. Cut each apple and pear in half. Remove the core and stem area. Place them cut-side up in the baking dish. Slice one half of the orange into thick rings, then quarter them. Tuck these orange slices between the apples and pears. Squeeze juice from the second half of the orange and pour over everything.

Put a small piece of butter into the center of each fruit. Chop the nuts and sprinkle them over the dish. Drizzle liquid honey over the apples and pears. If you like cinnamon, sprinkle it on top as well.
Step 4
Bake the fruit in the preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 20–25 minutes. Exact baking time may vary depending on fruit type and oven. Halfway through baking, spoon some of the released juices over the fruit.
Step 5
Serve the baked fruit warm or cold. They pair perfectly with a scoop of ice cream. Enjoy!
